Description	:	Oelwein Daily Register 11/4/1938 William Barker Powell was born August 13, 1852 in New York State and died at his home October 27, 1938. He was the son of William and Sarah Angle Powell. On May 30 1870 he was united in marriage to Susanha Miller. They had one son Henry who died December 21, 1935. His wife passed away April 19, 1936. Read More	Oelwein Daily Register 11/4/1938 William Barker Powell was born August 13, 1852 in New York State and died at his home October 27, 1938. He was the son of William and Sarah Angle Powell. On May 30 1870 he was united in marriage to Susanha Miller. They had one son Henry who died December 21, 1935. His wife passed away April 19, 1936. The Powell family moved to Brush Creek (now Arlington) in 1882. He owned a shoemaker's shop and worked at his trade until three weeks ago. He was one of the original business men and at the time of his death was the oldest in years of services as well as age. He had been a shoemaker for sixty years. He is survived by one brother, Frank, of Springfield, MO, three grandchildren, Mrs Will Hayes of Cresco, Forrest and Mark of Arlington, several great grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Rev Edwin Hignett conducted the services. Burial was at Taylorsville. Out of town relatives and friends attending the funeral were; Frank Powell, Springfield, MO, Mr and Mrs Clarence Mason, Ontario, Cal; Mrs John Kinnebery, Des Moines; Mr and Mrs Chas Kinnebery, Waterloo; Mr and Mrs Will Hayes and Clause of Cresco. Mr and Mrs Lee Scheffler, Strawberry Point; Mr and Mrs Claude Cole, and Mr and Mrs Harold Gutenkauf, Oelwein, and Merle Morris, Aurora.
