Mr. Collins passed away the following day at the home of his daughter, Mrs. H.B. Anderson. Funeral services were held Saturday from the Merrill mortuary and interment was made in Highland cemetery. Mr. Collins had lived in Montana for 53 years and most of that time was spent in the north central part of the state. He came to the state with his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel D. Spencer, when he was 18 years of age. He spent several years riding the range for outfits near Great Falls and then went to Fort Benton where he operated a meat market for some time. Later he took up a homestead not far from there and lived on it until a few years ago when he and Mrs. Collins moved to Great Falls. Mr. Collins was born at Bervil, Ontario, Canada, and was one of ten children, three of whom are still living. In 1894, he was united in marriage to Miss Nellie Whalen of Teton, and to this union several children were born. The survivors include his widow, one son and four daughters. The son is Will Collins of Loma; and the daughters are, Freddie of Choteau, Nora of Conrad, Mrs. Ray Flathers of Billings, and Mrs. H.B. Anderson of Great Falls. The deceased and his wife were known to a number of people in Choteau. They lived here for a short time while their daughter, Nora, was in charge of the Y-B store. They also visited here with their daughter, Miss Freddie, who is employed at the Beaupre cafe.
