Description	:	William Bertice Upchurch, of Apex, Wake County, has passed to the great beyond. He was 78 years old, and though he had been ill since last October, his death was due to pneumonia, which developed last Friday. Mr. Upchurch was from one of the oldest families in Wake County. He was a member of the Legislature in 1899 and was a successful tobacco farmer. He was the first man to build a barn to flue cure bright tobacco in Wake, was also a lumber, tie and wood dealer. He was 78 years old, and though he had been ill since last October, his death was due to pneumonia, which developed last Friday. Mr. Upchurch was from one of the oldest families in Wake County. He was a member of the Legislature in 1899 and was a successful tobacco farmer. He was the first man to build a barn to flue cure bright tobacco in Wake, was also a lumber, tie and wood dealer. The funeral services were held at Green Level Church, Rev. G. T. Mills, assisted by Rev. J. A. Campbell, officiating. Mr. Upchurch was a Master Mason, and was buried with Masonic honors.
