Description	:	William “Bill” Allum was born on June 29, 1941, and raised in Gregory. Bill attended St. Joseph Catholic Elementary school. He played baseball with the Junior League from a young age. Bill attended Gregory High School from 1956-1959 where he played football and basketball. Bill excelled at football. He, along with Cal Stukel, still holds the longest touchdown reception of 91 yards with an eleven man team. Bill went on to South Dakota State University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. He went on to work for Hughes Aircraft Company. Bill married Marti Ritter of Gregory and they moved to Japan for three years before settling in California and raising their family. Bill worked for Hughes until he passed the bar exam and became an attorney for many years. Bill and Marti divorced and Bill eventually settled back in Gregory where he met Barbara Sattler. They enjoyed many years of camping in their RV. Bill and Barbara were avid geocachers and they ended up traveling across many states. Bill passed away on October 16, 2019, at Avera Rosebud Country Care Center at the age of 78. From the Kotrba-Smith Funeral Home
