Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Devils Lake. Rev. Harold Ovre will officiate and burial will be in the Devils Lake Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the Neathery-Simensen Post #756, Devils Lake Veterans of Foreign Wars. Serving as active pallbearers will be Paul Christianson, Jr., Jesse Christianson, Steve Fisk, Brad Hooey, Wayne Hooey, and Tom Evenrude. William Christianson was born on April 19, 1928, at Devils Lake, the son of William and Anna (Jorgenson) Christianson. He was reared and educated in the area. He entered the US Army and served his country during World War II. After his discharge, he returned to Devils Lake and worked for Soper Brothers Construction and later for Devils Lake Paint and Glass. William was united in marriage to Joyce Hoyt in 1952 in Devils Lake. They established their home in Lakewood, rural Devils Lake where they lived through the years. In 1968, Bill established Christianson Paint and Glass in Lakota which he operated until his retirement. After he retired he traveled extensively and also spent time at some of his favorite pastimes, hunting and fishing. Bill is survived by his wife, Joyce of Lakota, ND; sons, Gary (Lanette) Christianson, Austin, MN, Paul (Dorothy) Christianson, Lisbon, ND, Wade (Marlene) Christianson, Devils Lake, ND; daughters, Cindy Woolridge, Bismarck, ND, Lynn (Mike) Didas, Auburndale, FL; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was proceeded in death by his parents and sister, Mavis Borstad. Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake, is in charge of the arrangements.
