Description	:	William "Bill" Hoeft, 75, of Shelby, passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2011, after a lengthy illness at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Lincoln. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Dubas Funeral Home in Osceola with Father James Cooper officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Shelby Catholic Cemetery. Dubas Funeral Home of Osceola and Stromsburg has been entrusted with arrangements. William was born May 14, 1936, to William and Dorothy (Doty) Hoeft in Surprise. He attended David City Public School. He was a long-time Shelby resident. He was an over-the-road trucker and employed with Augustine Feedlot before retiring from the Union Pacific Railroad after 20 years of employment. He enjoyed attending auctions, listening to polka music, woodworking, hunting, gardening, making people laugh, telling jokes and having coffee at Ampride with his friends. He is survived by his wife, Gladys (Kucera) Hoeft, of 52 years; children, Kathy (Nader) Farahbod, of Lincoln, Julie (Doug) McMahan, of Lincoln, Mike (Beth) Hoeft, of Columbus, Pat (Laura) Hoeft, of Shelby and Shelly Westfall, of Lincoln; grandchildren, Arlene Orr, Brent Farahbod, Jessie Hoeft, Kiley Hoeft, Kaylyn Hoeft, Leann Hoeft, Jennie Hoeft, J.D. McMahan, Tyler Westfall, Jordan Farahbod and Heather Westfall; great-grandchildren, Gage Orr, Kami Orr, Kenny Pearson Jr., and Avery Ebert-Farahbod; siblings, Joan (George) Evans, of Columbus, and Jerry (Joyce) Hoeft, of Missouri; sisters-in-law, Sally Kozisek, of Fremont, Evelyn (Bill) Birkel, of Columbus, Darelene Jatczak, of Kearney, Shirley (Mike) Vasina, of Columbus; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Dorothy Hoeft; and sister, Pauline Hoeft. Memorials are suggested to the family.
