Description	:	January 10, 2003 11:00 pm JOLIET - William "Bill" Kober passed away Jan. 9, 2003, at Laurel Evergreen Health Center. He was born July 10, 1914, a son of Karl and Eleanor Rimpe Kober. Bill married Clara Mehling, June 4, 1939. They had four children, William C., Helen, Thomas C. and Rebecca. Clara died June 23, 1978. They had resided in Lockwood for many years. Read More	January 10, 2003 11:00 pm JOLIET - William "Bill" Kober passed away Jan. 9, 2003, at Laurel Evergreen Health Center. He was born July 10, 1914, a son of Karl and Eleanor Rimpe Kober. Bill married Clara Mehling, June 4, 1939. They had four children, William C., Helen, Thomas C. and Rebecca. Clara died June 23, 1978. They had resided in Lockwood for many years. Bill married Margaret Hedges in February 1981, and they lived in Park City. His early years were spent farming and he never lost his love of the soil and growing things. In the 1950s, he went to work for the railroad and Great Western Sugar Co., which he retired from in 1979. After retirement, Bill enjoyed traveling, gardening and woodworking. He made many wishing wells, doll swings, butterflies, roadrunners, etc. He was a most generous and giving person, always willing to lend a helping hand. Surviving Bill is his wife Margaret of Laurel; his son, Bill (Cheryl) and daughter, Becky (Kelly) of Billings; grandchildren, Rick LeClair, Brian, Brent, Blake, T.J., Alicia and Destiny. Also, six great-grandchildren; half-brother Richard Kober; and stepsister, Dorothy Kerby. Bill was preceded in death by his two children, Helen and Tom; his parents; siblings, John, Anna (Thomas), Karl, Albert and half-brother Ed. He will be dearly missed by his family and his many friends. Memorial service will be held Wednesday, Jan. 15, at 2 p.m., at Smith Downtown Chapel. Interment of his cremains will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
