Description	:	Funeral services for William Weikum, age 93 of Elgin, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 13, 2008 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Elgin. Pastor Wayne Rouse will officiate with burial in the Hope Lutheran (Stone Church) north of Elgin. WILLIAM WEIKUM "Bill" was born January 24, 1915 to Henry and Maria (Wiersche) Weikum on their farm 12 miles northwest of Elgin. He attended school at Antelope School District and grew up helping on the farm. On October 31, 1937, Bill was united in marriage to Helen Eva Schock at Hope Lutheran Church (Stone Church) north of Elgin. They farmed together northwest of Elgin raising six sons. They moved into Elgin in 1986. Bill took pride in his family and spent many hours playing the keyboard piano and singing hymns. It can be said of him that he was a great farmer for 49 years. He loved to hunt and fish, and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Bill was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Elgin. He went home to be with the Lord on October 10, 2008 at the age of 93 years. Gratefully, he shared his life with his wife Helen; his sons and daughters-in-law, Evonne Weikum, Bismarck, ND; Henry and Dorothy Weikum, New Boston, MI; Bill and Carole Weikum, Monroe, MI; Ron Weikum, Elgin, ND; Roger and Janet Weikum, Irving, TX; 13 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law, Lorraine Weikum, and Olivia Weikum, both of Elgin, ND. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Helen, 2 sons, Melvin and Clayton, 3 sisters, Emma Stelzer, Frieda Schock, Ida Stelzer; 4 brothers, Albert, Arthur, Fred, and Paul Weikum. A memorial has been established to Immanuel Lutheran Church Missions and the Juvenile Diabetes Association. Visitation will be Sunday, 1:00 to 7:00pm at the Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home in Elgin and on Monday one hour prior to services at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Elgin.
