He was a well known winter visitor in the city and the owner of the Masters citrus grove on Tangerine Avenue. He is survived by several children living at his former home, Linesburg, W Va, and Mrs J J Duffy of this city, wife of the former mayor of Pass-a-Grille. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:30 o'clock this afternoon from the Harris undertaking chapel, Rev J W Oates, pastor of the First Baptist church being in charge of the services. The body will be shipped on the train this evening to Jacksonville on the way to the former home. Mr Masters is among the best known of the residents on Tangerine avenue, having been coming to St. Petersburg and to this vicinity for five years. He was formerly a merchant in West Virginia. Hinton Daily News and Leader, Hinton, West Virginia Friday, February 27, 1914, page 1 A message was received here Wednesday afternoon announcing the death of Wm Masters, Esq, that morning at St Petersburg, Fla, where he and Mrs Masters were spending the winter. He was not well when he left his home at Lewisburg last fall and had not improved in the South. Pneumonia and pleurisy are given as the cause of death. He was born in Fayette county on July 7, 1831, and was, at death, 83 years, 7 months and 18 days old, was a member of the Baptist church, a man whom all respected highly. He had been a resident of Lewisburg for several years. He is survived by a wife and two daughters Mrs Lou Peck of Lewisburg and Mrs John Duffy of Florida.
