He was the father of John Bower and Anthony Bower, former residents here, and Mrs. Alex Fullerton is one of his grandchildren. Other surviving children are Mrs. J.T. Fowler of Fair Oaks, California, also a former resident of this vicinity, Walter Bower of Mesa, Colorado, and Samuel Bower of Mt. Auburn, Iowa. Wm. He was the father of John Bower and Anthony Bower, former residents here, and Mrs. Alex Fullerton is one of his grandchildren. Other surviving children are Mrs. J.T. Fowler of Fair Oaks, California, also a former resident of this vicinity, Walter Bower of Mesa, Colorado, and Samuel Bower of Mt. Auburn, Iowa. Wm. Bower was born at Wilton, Yorkshire, England, September 2, 1828, and attained the ripe old age of 92 years, 6 months and 24 days. He had six brothers and sisters, all of whom preceded him in death. He came to Canada and married Miss Sarah Jane Robinson. She and five children also preceded him in death. The family came to Benton Co., Iowa, in 1867. The death of Mrs. Bower occurred there in 1913, and in 1916 Mr. Bower came to Washta where he has since made his home with his son John and where his death occurred. The end came quickly and quietly, without illness, as he had often desired. A short service was held in Washta Monday morning before leaving for the old home in Benton County where funeral services were conducted in the Watkins Presbyterian Church and interment made in the Watkins Cemetery. children listed as Samuel Bower, Albert Bower, Sr., Alice Bower Fowler, John Bower, Anthony Bower, Mary Bower Fowler, Edgar Bower and Walter Bower.
