Read More	DEATH SUMMONS IS ANSWERED BY WILLIAM BOWERS William Bowers died at his home, 198 Elmwood avenue Thursday morning at 10:30 o'clock. Although 86 years old Mr. Bowers had never been sick a day in his life until his last illness of a week. The deceased was born in McKean township, Licking county, October 12, 1830, and at the time of his death was aged 86 years, 1 month, and 25 days. He was reared on a farm and for many years lived on a farm adjoining the old homestead. Conducting a general store in the early sixties at Fredonia, he at one time had as a partner Mr. Noah Andregg. After leaving the general store he devoted his time to farming and later to stock raising, being one of the first in the county to purchase some imported draft horses. He was a great lover of fine horses and always admired them. About 1892 he moved to Newark and entered the livery business, later combining a feed store with his livery business. After a few years he devoted his attention to the feed business alone. He was well known over the country as "Billy" Bowers the horseman and later through his connection in the feed business. Mr. Bowers held several minor offices in McKean township and at one time aspired to the office of county commissioner. He was married to Mary Ellen Warner in 1859 and to this union were born three children, Warner Bowers of Bethel, O., Mrs. J. G. Cooper of Cincinnati, O., and Mrs. Belle Bishop, the latter having preceded him to the grave some years ago. In 1874 he was married to Mary J. Ferguson and of his union two children were born, Walter J. Bowers of this city and Mrs. William Hilfinger, the latter preceding him to the grave about three years ago. He leaves to morn his loss two sons, Warner C. Bowers of Bethel, Walter J. Bowers of Newark, one daughter, Mrs. J. G. Cooper of Cincinnati, his wife, Mary J., of this city. Also one brother, Lewis Bowers of Richwood, and one sister, Mrs. Mary Ann Johnson of Ninth street. The funeral will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the late residence in Elmwood avenue and interment will be made in Cedar Hill cemetery.
