He was buried in the Glass Window Cemetery located in Vernon Parish. At this time the names of his parents have not been determined. Knowledge of his early years in Robeson County is almost non-existent. There is documentation that his father died when he was very young. Read More	William Bryant was born October 31, 1805 in Robeson County North Carolina and died February 02, 1897 in Vernon Parish Louisiana. He was buried in the Glass Window Cemetery located in Vernon Parish. At this time the names of his parents have not been determined. Knowledge of his early years in Robeson County is almost non-existent. There is documentation that his father died when he was very young. This is the explanation he personally gave on his military pension application, for his mother's inability to provide him with a formal education. William was living in Georgia by the age of twenty-seven. On December 18, 1832 William married Mary Ann Hearn Duty. Mary was born in 1813 in Georgia and died October 11, 1865 in what was then Rapides Parish Louisiana. She was also buried in the Glass Window Cemetery located in Vernon Parish Louisiana. Mary had previously been married to Thomas Duty. She and Thomas had one daughter, Samantha Duty. Samantha was born June 30, 1830 in Georgia. On January 23, 1836 William enlisted in Captain McCrary's Georgia Volunteers, (also know as the Sumter County Guards), for service in the Creek Indian War. He was discharged February 16, 1836. He was enrolled again March 10, 1863 in the same Company, at Fort Twiggs Georgia. William was discharged June 10, 1836 after three months of service. He was paid for three months of service and received six days travel pay which included sixty miles to place of rendezvous and sixty-five miles from place of discharge. He was discharged at Columbia, Georgia. At the time of service William's physical description was listed as, height five feet, eight inches; complexion, dark; color of eyes, blue; color of hair, black. William and Mary were in Lee County Georgia in 1840. They migrated from Georgia to Walton County, Florida by approximately 1847. William and Mary had two children while living in Walton County. Their son William Thomas was born July 9, 1850 and their daughter Margaret Elizabeth was born May 20, 1853. The William Bryant Family called Covington County Alabama home no later than 1857. One year later they were off on a new journey which eventually led them to their final home in Rapides Parish Louisiana. February 07, 1869 William married Amanda Coon Peavy in Rapides Parish. Amada was born in about 1834 in Alabama and died August 14, 1913. She was first married to Joshua A. Peavy who died of illness on June 28, 1862 in Tupelo Mississippi while serving with the 16th Louisiana Infantry.
