William Bundy, 86, Civil war veteran, died early this morning at his home here following an illness of several months duration. Deceased was born in Hamilton county, Indiana, March 20, 1848. At the age of 15 he enlisted in the Union army and served in Company F, 116th Indiana Infantry, for eight and a half-months when the war ended. In 1883 he was married to Miss Clara E. Perry and in 1886 moved to Illinois where he remained until 1906 when he came to Chico where he resided until his death. Deceased was a carpenter by trade and followed this work, for more than 30 years. He joined the G.A.R. in Hoopestown, IL, and later transferred to the Halleck post No. 19 and for more than 20 years was prominent in the work of the local post. Survivors include four children, Mrs. Gladys Crandall and Mrs. Grace Allison, both of Chico; Albert S. Bundy of San Francisco, and Leland F. Bundy of Yountville; 18 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; one sister and three brothers, all of Indiana, Mrs. H. McLain, Ora Bundy, Newton Bundy and Milton Bundy. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of the Westfall funeral home Monday morning at 10:30 o'clock and burial will be beside his late wife in the G.A.R. plot of the Chico cemetery, Rev. W.S. Lemmon of the Christian church officiating.
