Born April 1, 1937 in Orangeburg, SC, he was the son of the late Brady C. Rast and Mildred Inabinet Rast. He was retired from the State Department of Transportation where he worked as an Engineer. In his early years of retirement he enjoyed auctioneering and was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing and farming. He is survived by his wife of 28 years Margaret R. Rast and two daughters, Lynda Kaye Martin and her husband Chuck of Columbia, SC, and Margaret Ann Emery and her husband Gregg of East Poland, Maine. The light of his life was his one and only granddaughter, Lauren Kaye Emery of East Poland, Maine. The family will receive friends at Dukes Harley Funeral Home, 3379 Columbia Rd., Orangeburg, on Saturday, December 8, 2012, from 4pm 6pm. Funeral services for Billy will be held on Sunday, December 9, 2012 at 2:00pm at Limestone Methodist Church, 441 Limestone Rd., Orangeburg. Burial will follow at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Cemetery, Murph Mill Rd. and Hwy 21. The family would like to thank all the healthcare professionals at the Lexington Medical Facilities for the special care they provided to our loved one.
