Farr was born in Frankfort, Tenn., on May 10, 1855, and passed to his eternal reward on January 18, 1946, at the ripe old age of 90 years, 8 months, and 8 days. He was united in marriage to Letta Isabel Hamilton on November 22, 1876. That same year the young couple moved to Ness County, Kansas, where they homesteaded and lived the hardious life common to the pioneers. Farr was born in Frankfort, Tenn., on May 10, 1855, and passed to his eternal reward on January 18, 1946, at the ripe old age of 90 years, 8 months, and 8 days. He was united in marriage to Letta Isabel Hamilton on November 22, 1876. That same year the young couple moved to Ness County, Kansas, where they homesteaded and lived the hardious life common to the pioneers. Skirmishes with Indians were experienced and at one time he was surrounded by them. Materials and groceries had to be freighted from Dodge City where was the nearest railroad, by team or on their own backs. Mr. Farr united with the Ransom Methodist Church on March 29, 1896, of which church he remained a member until he was taken to be with the church triumphant. He was preceded in death by his wife, who passed away on August 27, 1929, and by two of their nine children, Edgar and Julia. Surviving are seven children; Mrs. Ada Brundage, WaKeeney; Mrs. Etta Moore, Seattle, Wash.; Mrs. Clara Ludy, Ransom; Mrs. Bessie McGuire, Utica; Joe Farr, Clifford Farr and Mrs. Pearl Hazen all of Ransom; 33 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Sarah Mason of Osborne City. Many other relatives and a host of friends also mourn the passing of this pioneer." Ness Co. News, Jan. 24, 1946
