He was born on January 27, 1939 to Paul and Dorothy (Heizer) Fischer in Defiance. On March 31, 1966, he married Janet (Florence) Fischer, who survives. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Defiance. William served in the U.S. Army for 3 years. William enjoyed antique cars and electric trains. He worked in the payroll office at Dinner Bell, and at United Telephone Company, and was a volunteer with the Defiance Fire Department. Later in life, William worked for the Defiance City Parks Department at Riverside Cemetery. William is survived by his loving spouse of 49 years, Janet, Fischer of Defiance, son, Stephen Fischer of Defiance, son, Eric (Megan) Fischer of Defiance, half-brother, Robert (Connie) Fischer of Kentucky, half-brother, Peter (Kris) Fischer of Illinois, half-sister, Susan Fischer of Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Dorothy Fischer, and Aunt and Uncle who raised him, Paul and Margarete Hohenberger. Defiance Crescent News - Published April 15, 2015
