C. Stark, well known and long time resident of Moravia and Appanoose county, died suddenly at his home in Moravia last Wednesday afternoon after suffering a stroke of paralysis. He was 72 years, 6 months and. 8 days old at the time of his passing. Mr. Stark suffered a slight stroke a number of months ago but had been enjoying better health during recent months. Wednesday of last week he took a team and wagon to the field west of his home. Passersby sensed something was wrong when they saw him lying on the wagon and went to investigate. He was removed to his home and died a short time later. Obituary Wm, C. Stark, son of David T and Sarah Stark, was born in Walnut City, Iowa, Oct. 7, 1863 and died in Moravia, Iowa, April 16, 1938, age 72 years, 6 months and 8 days. With the exception of a few years his life was spent in Appanoose county, most of the time in the vicinity of Moravia. He was united in marriage with Margaret M. Johnson, April 11, 1886. She passed to that other world about six years ago. ago. One child blessed this union, Mrs. Edna M. Hiatt of Moravia, who survives. He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Mary Main of Moravia; two grandchildren, and two great grandchildren, also many nephews and nieces and other relatives. Mr. Stark was a farmer all of his life. He was a lover of horses and never wanted to see them neglected or abused. He found delight in the company of little children and had a great deal of patience with them. He lived according to his belief and was active to within a few hours of his quiet passing away as the effect of paralysis. Funeral services were conducted were conducted from the Turner Funeral Home, Friday afternoon, April 17th, at 2 o'clock, Rev. F.C. Scott officiating. The singers were Osa Callen, Marie Oehler, Zell Callen and Forrest Main, accompanied by Mrs. Chas. Coffin. Pall-bearers were W. H. Morgan, P. D. Screiner, J. W Albert, Bert Woodcock, H. E. Watts, Fred Hiatt. Interment in Moravia cemetery. Moravia Cemetery is on South Henry Street, Information may be obtained by phone contact with the Moravia City Clerk Office.
