Carl, 75, of Glenmora entered eternal rest on Friday, April 15, 2016 in the Rapides Regional Medical Center of Alexandria. He was born August 31, 1940 in Oakdale to the union of Herman Lee Giles and Josie Nell (Brown) Giles. After graduating from Glenmora High School in 1958, he owned and operated his own construction business for 15 years. He was a member of the Glenmora Baptist Church. In 1971, he opened Carl’s Catfish Hut and has been serving Central Louisiana with food and country hospitality for 42 years. As a native of Rapides Parish, Carl served 4 years as Police Juror in District H. During his term he did approximately $2,000,000.00 of road work in his district, worked closely with all municipalities, and president of the 8th Region, which covered several parishes. He served for 3 years on the Executive Board of the Policy Jury association, and served 3 years as Chairman of Roads in Rapides Parish. Carl was a member of the Cattlemen’s and Restaurant Association, and also a member of Glenmora Masonic Lodge #356 and a 32nd degree Mason, member of El Karubah Shrine Temple and Cenla Shrine Club. He was the owner and operator of Lone Oak Ranch and breeder of Registered Brahma cattle. Carl worked hard for the people in District H. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He is preceded in death by his parents; and one son, Carl William Giles, Jr. Those left behind to cherish his memory are: his loving wife of 27 years, Pamela (McGilvray) Giles of Glenmora; three sons, J. Lamar Giles, Tanner William Giles, and Parrish Wallace Giles all of Glenmora; one brother, Gary Lamar Giles of Glenmora; two granddaughters, Ava Anne Giles and Jadynn Alyss Giles; and a host of family and friends. Pallbearers to serve will be Ronnie Fee, Darrell Rollins, Seth Davis, Brooks Davis, John Carruth, and Brad Bennett. Honorary pallbearer to serve will be Kirby Guy. Visitation will be held at the Glenmora Baptist Church on Monday, April 18, 2016 from 2 p.m. until 10 p.m., then on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 from 10 a.m. until service time at 2 p.m. in the church.
