A general feeling of sadness has prevailed in every department of the M. L. Parker store, when employees learned of the death of William Chester Bottomley, a member of the shoe department in the store, which occurred Friday at the Davenport hospital following a ten days' illness of severe pneumonia. Mr. Bottomley, who was but 23 years and six months old when death claimed him, was born in West Liberty, Ia., and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Bottomley. Upon coming to Davenport several years ago he took a position as manager of the Henry Clay Shoe store where he was occupied until one year ago when he became connected with the Parker Co. shoe department. During his business connections in Davenport he made many friends, and was very popular with his fellow employees. Surviving are his parents in West Liberty. The body has been taken there for funeral services to be held this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Methodist church. Many of the Parker employees have arranged to attend the services in a body. NOTE: also surviving are two younger sisters.
