Hall Clayton, was born July 3, 1936, near Brooklyn in Bear Creek Township, Poweshiek county, Iowa. Bill received his education in the Brooklyn School graduating from high school in 1954. William Clair Clayton, son Walter Clayton and Hazel M. Hall Clayton, was born July 3, 1936, near Brooklyn in Bear Creek Township, Poweshiek county, Iowa. Bill received his education in the Brooklyn School graduating from high school in 1954. He attended a dairy herd Improvement course at Iowa State College in 1954. In 1954 and 1955, he was a DHIA Supervisor in Marshall County. Bill served with the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957. In 1957 until in 1958 he worked for a contractor building new houses. In 1958 he worked for an uncle on a farming operation and from 1959 until 1980 he farmed a dairy, beef, hog and grain farm near Brooklyn. From 1978 to 1985 he was a realtor associated with Benda Real Estate at Hartwick, Iowa, and in 1985 he worked for Hartwick State Bank doing FmHA guaranteed loans. Since 1985 he was a broker for Clayton real Estate of Brooklyn and since 1992 was also an employee for Financial Services Group, Inc., completing appraisals for real estate. On June 22nd, 1958, Bill was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Felton in the Madison Church of Christ, rural Brooklyn. He was a member of the Madison church of Christ where he had served as a deacon and assistant financial secretary. Surviving are his wife, Mary Ellen; one daughter, Lee Ann Clay of Willmar, Minnesota; two sons, Kenneth and his wife, Ellen, of Brooklyn, and Michael who is with the U.S. Navy at Annapolis, Maryland; one brother and his wife, Max and Marilyn Clayton of Brooklyn; one sister and her husband, Norma and Jack Hicks of Marion; and two grandchildren, Ben and Adam Clayton. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Phyllis Thornburg, Marjorie Smith and Joan Anderson. Grave side services for Mr. Clayton were held at 9:30 A.M., Monday, June 6, 1994, in the Victor Memorial Cemetery, Victor, Iowa. A "Celebrate Life" service was held at 11 A.M., Monday in the Madison Church of Christ with Mr. Dennis Smith officiating.
