Description	:	William Clarence "Bill" Alberts, the son of Nels "Ole" Oliver and Edith N. (Miller) Alberts. Bill was born at Sutton, Neb., on Sept. 15, 1937, and passed away in Grand Island, Neb., on Feb. 10, 2012, at the age of 74. Bill grew up near Saronville and graduated from Aurora High School in 1956. Bill served two years in the U.S. Army during peace time. Bill grew up near Saronville and graduated from Aurora High School in 1956. Bill served two years in the U.S. Army during peace time. Upon returning from the service, Bill worked for Hamilton County as a gravel truck driver. Bill married Linda King on Sept. 3, 1960. They lived in Aurora, where Bill worked at Wortman Motors. In 1962, Bill began farming and the family moved to a farm south of Aurora. Bill retired from farming and went to work at A-1 Fiberglass in Aurora for six years. Bill loved to watch sporting events. He watched the Chicago Cubs, boxing and Husker football on the television. Bill enjoyed attending his grandchildren's activities and especially liked following his grandsons' sporting events, and loved spending time with Lizzy, his granddaughter. He enjoyed his computer and keeping up with family members on Facebook. Bill was preceded in death by parents, Nels Oliver "Ole" and Edith Nellie (Miller) Alberts; son, Will O. Alberts; and brother, Gary Alberts. Survivors are: wife, Linda Alberts of Aurora; daughters, Sonia (Matt) Kiger of Yankton, S.D., Grace Alberts of Bellevue and Jennifer (Steve) Crawford of Crofton; daughter-in-law, Reka Alberts of York; grandsons, Jared, Zachary and Joshua Crawford, Ethan and Samuel Kiger; granddaughter, Elizabeth Alberts; sister, Patty Jo Alberts of Overland Park, Kan.; nephew, Tony (Janice) Alberts of Cabool, Mo.; stepmother, Vivian Alberts of Aurora; and a host of relatives and friends. Interment was in the Aurora Cemetery, Aurora, NE Published in The Grand Island Independent on February 12, 2012 ************************************************************ A 74-year-old Aurora man died when the car he was driving collided with a pickup at Highway 34 and Shady Bend Road in Grand Island Friday afternoon. William Alberts was driving a 2005 Buick LeSabre south on Shady Bend Road as a 1997 Ford pickup was being driven west on Highway 34 by Daniel Aalborg, 39, of Aurora, according to the Nebraska State Patrol. The pickup was following a third vehicle that had pulled onto the shoulder to turn south onto Shady Bend Road. Aalborg was passing the turning vehicle on the left when Alberts pulled onto the highway and was hit on the driver's side, according to the State Patrol. Alberts and his passenger, Linda Alberts, 68, also of Aurora, were both taken to St. Francis Medical Center. William Alberts died of internal injuries prior to arriving at the hospital. Linda Alberts was treated for her injuries and released, according to the State Patrol. All three people involved in the accident were using seat belts at the time of the collision.
