Description	:	William Clarence "Brownie" Brown, 73, of Hendersonville, NC, passed away on January 13, 1996, in Pardee Memorial Hospital following a sudden illness. A native of Spartanburg, SC, he had also lived in Charlotte, NC for 25 years before moving to Henderson County in 1962. Son of the late W.C. Brown, Sr. and Bertha Martin Brown. Read More	William Clarence "Brownie" Brown, 73, of Hendersonville, NC, passed away on January 13, 1996, in Pardee Memorial Hospital following a sudden illness. A native of Spartanburg, SC, he had also lived in Charlotte, NC for 25 years before moving to Henderson County in 1962. Son of the late W.C. Brown, Sr. and Bertha Martin Brown. A member of the Fletcher Seventh Day Adventist Church here he was an assistant head deacon and served as an assistant to the pastor for foreign missions. Received an MBA from the University of South Carolina, Columbia in 1949 and had served as Vice President of the American Credit Corp. and Barclay American Corp.; and was a pilot in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Smith Brown; daughter, Sheri Ann Brown Harris (1962-2008); sons, Darryl Clarence Brown and Michael Oglesby Brown; sisters, Margaret Elizabeth Brown Hyatt (1916-2001) and Dorothy Brown Cucullu (1920-2009); five grandchildren. Also predeceased by his son, Stephen Dale Brown (1958–1972); and sister, Louise Fay Brown (1909–1916). The family received friends from 7:00 - 8:30 pm, Sunday, January 14, 1996, at the Thomas Shepherd & Son Funeral Home in Hendersonville, NC. Services were held at 11:00 am, Monday, January 15, 1996, at Fletcher Seventh Day Adventist Church, conducted by elders John Lorntz, Ken Coonley, and Malcolm Gordon; graveside services followed at 2:00 pm in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
