Description	:	William C. Bostrom, age 87, of Valley City, ND, died Saturday, February 21, 2009 at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Center in Jamestown, ND under Hospice of the Red River Valley Care. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, February 27, 2009 at Grace Free Lutheran Church in Valley City with Reverend Steve Mundfrom officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Lerud-Johnson-Schuldt Funeral Home in Valley City and one hour before the service at the church on Friday afternoon. William Claris Bostrom, the son of William and Clara (Opheim) Bostrom, was born July 24, 1921 on the family farm in Griggs County near Cooperstown, ND. William attended rural school until he moved into Cooperstown, ND where he attended Cooperstown High School. After receiving his education, William farmed with his father in the Cooperstown, ND area until they moved to the Buffalo, ND area where they farmed for a short time. The family then moved to Valley City where they owned and operated Bostrom's Service Station on east main street. During this time, William, his father and brother also made cement blocks that were used for construction of many buildings in and around Valley City. William then moved to Minneapolis, MN where he attended a course on reading blueprints and graduated on April 14, 1942. A short time later, he moved to Seattle, Washington where he worked as a blueprint reader and assembler for Boeing Aircraft Company. William lived and worked in Seattle until 1960 when he moved back to Valley City and began working for Smith Lumber Company. On December 29, 1963 he was united in marriage to Betty Kjelland at Zion Lutheran Church near Valley City. The couple then began farming in the Green Township area of Barnes County near Valley City until their retirement in 1994 when they moved into Valley City. While living in Valley City, the couple were Building Managers at Northwood Apartments. William loved music, he loved to play the accordion, guitar and base guitar. He was also and avid bowler, a skilled pool player and avid Cubs Baseball fan. William is survived by his wife Betty and two sons, David Bostrom and Dennis Bostrom, all Valley City, ND. William was preceded in death by his parents, two infant sons, Jeffrey and Gary and one brother Floyd Bostrom.
