Richmond, aged 67 years, well known merchant, died suddenly Monday night at 8:30 following a heart attack at his home in Charlestown. He had been in ill health for some time but had not been confined to his bed until three days prior to his death. Mr. Richmond was born in Scotland and came to the United States when a child of 15 months and resided on Buck Hill with his parents. For years he worked in the coal mines of region and about 18 years ago he bought the general merchandise store then owned by the late Joseph Harris, on Jackson street. From that time on he was one of the most successful business men of the community and took an active part in its affairs up until several years, ago. Besides his wife, Mrs. Hannah Lynch Richmond, he is survived by five children: James Richmond, this place; Misses Agnes, Velma and Marie, at home, and John Richmond, Frostburg: five sisters, Mrs. Agnes Sisler and Mrs. John R. Bell, of Roanoke, Va.; Mrs. Stanley T. Allyn, San Francisco, Calif.; Miss Martha and Miss Margaret Richmond, Cumberland, and a half brother, John Richmond, Lonaconing. He was active in fraternal organization, being a member of Georges Creek Valley Lodge, No. 161, A, F. and A. M., and Rising Sun Lodge, No. 86, Knights of Pythias. He was a member of the First Methodist Episcopal Church. Funeral arrangements are pending the arrival of relatives.
