Bill was born on October 29, 1942, in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Walter C. and Marie (Wendt) Cook. Read More	William (Bill) Claude Cook, 71, of Waverly, Iowa and formerly of Clinton, Iowa, died on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at Unity Point-Allen Hospital in Waterloo. Bill was born on October 29, 1942, in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Walter C. and Marie (Wendt) Cook. He attended Iowa State University and later recWaterlooeived his Master's Degree in education from the University of Northern Iowa. He was united in marriage to Leona Maye Cook on January 2, 1965, in Clinton, Iowa. Bill was principal in Plainfield while teaching Math and Science. He then proceeded to serve as superintendent in the Galva school district. He was owner-operator of Denver Hardware in Denver for 25 years until his retirement in 2006. He was an active member of the Denver Lions and in his spare time he enjoyed fishing and gardening. He is survived by his wife, Leona Cook of Waverly, Iowa; two daughters, Christina McBurney of Winterset, Iowa; and Cherie (Keenan) Flint of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; four grandchildren, Dylan, Dietrich, Merissa and Maleigha and his mother-in-law, Dorothy Nelson. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, Chad Thomas Cook. Celebration of Life Services will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2014, at 11:30 a.m. at the Good Shepherd Chapel at the Bartels Lutheran Home in Waverly with Pastor Alan Bidne officiating. The family will greet family and friends on Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Denver and also for an hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Burial of his cremains will be held at a later date in Clinton, Iowa. In lieu of Flowers, the family suggests memorials go to the Alzheimer's Association. Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Denver is assisting the family with arrangements.
