Description	:	Uncle Billy has passed away. I miss him. March 7, 2009 at 1:43pm All three of my mom's brothers and two of my aunt's husbands, were always the life of the party. They had a wonderful time even while they were giving the ladies their time by taking us kids (all 17 of us). We'd go fishin,or hiking or just hang out down by the river. The only time we ever played on that farm was when the cousins and uncles were there and they lived 6 hours away. They all bought Harleys with their retirement checks. :)... He remarried his wife because she was ill and needed insurance coverage. He stayed with her until the end. Uncle Billy loved to travel and if he was near your home, he stopped in or called. He was an extremely family oriented man, and there were lots of us back in the day. If he wasn't traveling, which he had not done in year or so, he'd pick up the phone and call. He never missed a class reunion. He was a veteran of WWII and was the youngest of his siblings to join up. He served in the Pacific Theater. He worked in a corn syrup factory in Clinton, IA., all of his adult life. He spent his retirement time in the lush hills of North Carolina - outside Bryson City- with his beloved wife Mary and his two dogs who are mourning him . He was just an ordinary guy of that era which makes him, in my eyes, the greatest of men. He was laughter and caring. The world is a better place for his presence and the sun will shine a little less brightly without him. He graduated from Peterson High School. He was a United States Army veteran, serving in World War II. He married Sylvia Hitchcock on March 12, 1950, in Clinton; she died on September 9, 1990. He married Mary Frett (Dynes) on October 5, 1991. He attended St. Joseph Catholic Church and was a member of the American Legion of Cherokee, NC, and the VFW Post 9281 of Bryson City. ----- William C. Hintz, 82, of Shepherds Creek Community, NC, formerly of Clinton, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 2, 2009 in Asheville, NC. Funeral services will be 3:00 PM on Sunday, March 8, 2009 at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory. Cremation will follow the service. Burial of the cremains will take place at a later date. William Clinton Hintz was born on September 24, 1926 in Aurelia, IA, the son of William and Lily (Matzdorff) Hintz. He is survived by his Wife Mary, 2 daughters: Roi Ann (Jeff) Babcock of Clinton, and Rhonda (Paul) Stein of Rosemount, MN; 2 sons: Wayne Hintz of Farmington, MN and Tony (Michelle) Hintz of Clinton; 2 step sons, 3 step daughters, one sister: Adeline Malone of Albuquerque, NM, 8 grandchildren, 14 step grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and 2 step great grandchildren.
