Scott was born December 18, 1863 on a farm in Davis County, Iowa and died December 21, 1944 at the age of 81 years. When he was six years old, Mr. Scott came to Nebraska in a covered wagon. The family settled in the Rock Creek neighborhood, near Ceresco. Mr. Scott was united in marriage with Miss Rose Pecinousky in the St. John's Church, Weston, Nebraska on January 19, 1891. For a number of years he and Mrs. Scott made their home on a farm. They lived in David City and Lincoln where Mr. Scott was engaged in business. Later they returned to Valparaiso. Mr. Scott was manager of the Valparaiso elevator for a number of years and also owned and operated several other businesses in Valparaiso. He served several terms as a trustee of the village of Valparaiso and was precinct assessor for several years. Mr. Scott was a very popular business man, won many friends in his contact respected as a public official and with the public. He always had a friendly greeting for those whom he contacted daily and his passing will be regretted by young and old who knew him. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Rose Scott and five children, John William of Lincoln, Nebraska; Arthur E., of Beatrice, Nebraska; Mrs. Pharis M. Maly, Chicago; Willis E., Torrington, Wyoming; and Evelyn of Chicago. One son Joseph Earl preceded him in death. In Mr. Scott's immediate family two sisters are living; Mrs. Minnie McNeile of Lincoln and Mrs. Cooney of Compton, California. Funeral services were held from St. Mary's Church, Valparaiso and burial services conducted at the Valapaiso cemetery. Children: Joseph Scott John William Scott, Sr. Arthur E. Scott Pharis M.
