Description	:	William Detlaf Ehlers was born in Bryant, Iowa, October 27, 1862. In the year 1889 he was united in marriage to Miss Sophie Johannsen, who preceded him in death three months. To this union were born four children who survive, Mrs. Cleone Wells of Clinton, Iowa, Harold of Binford, Stanley of Clinton, Iowa, and Clifford of Kellogg, Idaho. In the year 1889 he was united in marriage to Miss Sophie Johannsen, who preceded him in death three months. To this union were born four children who survive, Mrs. Cleone Wells of Clinton, Iowa, Harold of Binford, Stanley of Clinton, Iowa, and Clifford of Kellogg, Idaho. Mr. Ehlers and his family moved from Iowa to Griggs County in 1909, having lived here for nearly twenty years. He farmed at Red Willow lake before moving to his present location. Deceased was a man who found much enjoyment in living and in his work. He was very industrious, was faithful to duty, an indulgent father and a devoted husband. He became ill about a year ago and was forced to quite the active life. He entered his final earthly hours unafraid of the great Hereafter, and was patient in his sufferings from that dread disease, cancer, from which he died. He passed away quietly Saturday morning, having expressed a wish to be released from the intense suffering and pain to which he was subjected. Impressive funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the Trinity Lutheran Church, Rev. L. M. Halling officiating. songs were rendered by a mixed choir and by Mr. L. P. Larson. beautiful flowers brought by friends and sorrowing relatives covered the casket, which was borne to the last resting place in the cemetery west of town where repose the remains of his wife, who passed away in July, this year. Deceased was a member of the M.W.A. and I.O.O.F. lodges. The sympathy of the whole community is extended to the bereaved children in the loss of their parents in that brief space of time.—Binford Times.
