He died from inflammation of the bladder from which other complications arose.. He suffered a great deal during the closing years of his life. The decedent was born at Cartzig, Bradenburg, Prussia in 1831 and grew to manhood and was married there. In 1857, he and his wife came to the United States settling in Cooperstown in Wisconsin. When the Civil war broke out he enlisted and fought for the Union being a member of a Wisconsin regiment. They removed to Plymouth county in 1873 and this has been their home ever since. Mr. Dobbert took up land in Stanton township and by dint of hard work, frugality, and integrity became quite well-to-do. He was a good specimen of the hardy, thrifty, and rugged German pioneer who labored on to success in spite of drawbacks and reverses which confronted early settlers in this locality. Last year Mr. and Mrs. Dobbert moved to LeMars, retiring from active work on the farm to enjoy a well earned and much needed rest. Mr. Dobbert was a highly respected citizen and a man of much weight in the community in which he has lived so long. To Mr. and Mrs. Dobbert were born ten children, five sons and five daughters, all whom live in this county, with the exception of one daughter, who resides in Wisconsin. They are Herman, August, John, William, and Henry Dobbert, and Mrs. Jacob Brandstetter, Mrs. Jacob Schneider, Mrs. Daniel Berner, and Mrs. Raintz, all of Stanton township and Mrs. Theo. Schauer, of Blackhawk, Wis. Mr. Dobbert was a member of the United Evangelical church and the funeral took place on Sunday at the Stanton United Evangelical Church, Rev. Wm. Jonas of this city and Rev. L. Belzer, of Stanton, conducting the services. The funeral cortege left LeMars at 12:30 and was a very large one. A larger number joined them at the church in Stanton and attended the services. The remains were interred at the Stanton cemetery.
