Born June 27, 1921 in Pleasant Grove Township, Des Moines County, he was the son of William C. and Hannah Moehlman Stucker. In February 1942 he married Betty Hingst. She died in March 1953. Read More	The Burlington Hawkeye, Wednesday, October 31, 2007 William Stucker William Dwight Stucker, 86, of New London, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2007, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington. Born June 27, 1921 in Pleasant Grove Township, Des Moines County, he was the son of William C. and Hannah Moehlman Stucker. In February 1942 he married Betty Hingst. She died in March 1953. On Jan. 12, 1955 he married Nettie Hipp in Packwood. Mr. Stucker was a livestock and crop farmer. After retirement he worked on timber stand improvement with a special interest in walnut and oak trees. He served in the Army during World War II. He was a graduate of Yarmouth High School. He was a lifetime member of Shinar Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he was an elder and Sunday school superintendent. He served on the Danville School Board, Des Moines County FHA Board and Des Moines County Soil Conservation Board. Survivors include his wife; two sons, J.D. Stucker of Danville and Dennis Stucker of Liverpool, N.Y.; two daughters, Claudia Hoelzen of Arlington, Texas, and Linda Gerdes of Normal, Ill.; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother. Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. Friday at Elliott Chapel in New London where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. The funeral for Mr. Stucker will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Shinar Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Pleasant Grove with the Rev. Robert Watkins officiating. Burial will be at Shinar Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery. A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice House and Shinar Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Pleasant Grove.
