Description	:	After an illness of several months, William Dye died at the home of his son, Finley, at Julesburg, Colorado, January 13th, 1908; aged seventy-one years, eight months and eleven days. General debility being the cause of death. Mr. Dye was born in Monroe county, Ohio, May 2, 1836. He was married in Putnam county, Missouri in 1856 to Miss Margaret Sterrett. General debility being the cause of death. Mr. Dye was born in Monroe county, Ohio, May 2, 1836. He was married in Putnam county, Missouri in 1856 to Miss Margaret Sterrett. Six children were born of this union; all of whom but one survive him: Fred Dye of Petaluma, California; Mrs. Ellis Johnson, Yelm, Washington; Mrs. Charles Burch, Chambers, Nebraska; Robert and Finley Dye of Julesburg, Colorado. Thirteen grandchildren survive him. In August, 1862, he enlisted in Company E 40th Iowa Volunteer Infantry where he served as First Sergeant until the close of the war. In 1871 he moved to Nebraska, homesteading in Fillmore county. On January 17, 1880, his wife died. In November 1882 he was elected to the Nebraska senate. In December of that year he was married to Miss Chloe B. Wells of Putnam county, Missouri. Six children were the fruit of this union, all of whom are living: Clark E. Portland, Oregon; William W. and Ruth, Settle, Washington; James L., British Columbia; Naomi and Edison, Julesburg, Colorado. From Nebraska Mr. Dye moved to Julesburg, Colorado, where he was engaged in the hardware business. He moved to Seattle in 1869, where he resided until a few months before his death. At Seattle, his second wife died in April 1906. He was converted and joined the M.E. church at the age of thirteen and has ever been a faithful member and zealous worker. He was more than an ordinary Christian; his experience was deep and clear. His faith firmly grounded and his life a constant testimony to the saving and keeping power of Christ. To his children and relatives he has left the inheritance of a good name and earnest devotion to Christ. A short service was held at Julesburg by Rev. Giller, and here services were held at the M.E. church, Tuesday at three p.m., conducted by Dr. John Gallagher, assisted by Rev. W.W. Hull. The casket was borne by old soldiers and the G.A.R. service was used at the grave.
