Description	:	William E. Engle, 98, of Rosedale, Indiana passed away Friday, June 25, 2021, at his residence. He was a retired farmer and dairyman. He was born October 31, 1922, in Burnett, Indiana to the late Ernest Engle and Marie Day Engle. His wife of 72 years, Eleanor Jean Huxford Engle, whom he married March 15, 1944, preceded him in death January 23, 2017. Survivors include two sons, Duane Engle of Hilliard, Florida and Mark Engle of Rosedale; one daughter, Jane (Bob) Cunning of Rosedale; eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was born October 31, 1922, in Burnett, Indiana to the late Ernest Engle and Marie Day Engle. His wife of 72 years, Eleanor Jean Huxford Engle, whom he married March 15, 1944, preceded him in death January 23, 2017. Survivors include two sons, Duane Engle of Hilliard, Florida and Mark Engle of Rosedale; one daughter, Jane (Bob) Cunning of Rosedale; eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son, Tom Engle; three sisters and one brother. He served as a Medic with the U.S. Army during WWII from 1943 to 1946 with the 97th Infantry division both in Europe and Asia where he received a Bronze Star. He was a member of the Dailey Chapel Christian Church. He served 17 years as a Director for the Parke County REMC, served 16 years on the Florida Township advisory board and 14 years on the Parke County ASCS board. Services will be 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 29, at Cottrell-Gooch Funeral Home, 287 N. Main Street, Rosedale, the Pastor Adam Coffman officiating. Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Tuesday at Cottrell-Gooch Funeral Home. A private burial will be held at Rosedale Cemetery.
