Description	:	W.E. Miles, age 87, who for 45 years was a druggist in Nelson, passed away Tuesday morning, October 15, at Brodstone Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient for about ten days. He is survived by his wife, Audrey, one brother, Theodore of Omaha, many nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Miles will be held Friday afternoon at 2:00 at the Methodist Church in Nelson. Miles, son of Norman & Mary Miles, was born February 1st, 1876 at Woodhull, Illinois and died October 15, 1963 at Brodstone Hospital, Superior, Nebraska. While still in childhood he moved with his family to college (sic) Springs, Iowa. The family also lived at Blanchard, Iowa. In 1883 they moved to Pawnee County, Nebraska. Mr. Miles attended school in Pawnee City and Pharmacy School in Omaha. He became a registered pharmacist in 1903 and purchased a drug store in Nelson, Nebraska where he has made his home since. He sold the store in 1947 after which time he did some work for pharmacists while they went on vacations. On July 24, 1905, he was united in marriage to Audry (sic) Manion. He was a member of the Methodist church & Masonic Lodge. Mr. Miles contributed very substantially to all the civic affairs of Nelson and was well known and highly respected throughout Nuckolls County. Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Audry (sic), one brother, Theodore of Omaha and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 18 at the Nelson Methodist Church with Rev. I.L. Belden officiating. Interment was in the Nelson Cemetery. Casket bearers were George Cowsky, James House, Jim Murphy, Dewey Whartman, William Kauffman and Bernic Barnes. Out of town people here to attend the funeral of W.E. Miles were: Mr. and Mrs. T.S. Miles; Mrs. Edith Dougherty, Mrs. Maude Hurd and Mrs. Robert Deems all of Omaha; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Stake of Adams; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Stake, Mr. and Mrs. William Stake; Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Steiner and Mrs. Clarence Hippen and daughter, Dorothy, all of Burchard; Mrs. Vera Redenbarger of Lincoln; Mrs. Albert LeMoin and Mrs. Maude Brink of Kansas City; Russell Stake of California; W.H. Manion of Superior; Miss Christine Jones and Mrs. John Scroggin of Oak; and Mr. and Mrs. Eden Drake of North Platte. The Nelson Gazette, Thursday, October 24, 1963
