Our community was shocked when the sad news was received that William E. Copenhaver had passed away at his home south of Clarence after a year of illness. He passed to his reward Monday morning Sept. 23, 1935 at the age of 49 years, 9 months and 9 days. Mr. Copenhaver was always cheerful and patient, never complaining no matter how difficult the task or suffering was. He was always ready to lend a helping hand. Work never got too hard for him to do. He spoke so many times what he would do if he only felt good. He only wished he could live to see his little grandson, Harold, educated. His loss is keenly felt by all who knew him, for his death leaves many an aching heart. "For God doeth all things well." Death is gain with our Christ and our departed loved ones will be there. In the shadow of His wings there is rest sweet rest. In the month of Oct. 1924, he joined the Christian church at Clarence under the ministry of Bro. Long. William E. Copenhaver was the oldest child and only son of Mr. and Mrs. C.G. Copenhaver. He spent his entire life near Clarence, except five years with his family he spent in Montana. On March 10, 1907 he was married to Miss Shellie Lee, who with two daughters, Mrs. Lester Carothers, Miss Fleta Copenhaver, at home, one grandson, Harold Carothers, his mother, of Tiger, Wash., also five sisters, Mrs. Pearl Pettet of Boseman, Mont.; Mrs. Edna Maupin, Tiger, Wash.; Mrs. Zora Hubble, Clarence, Mo.; Mrs. Minnie Smith, St. Paul, Nebr.; Mrs. Blanche Palmer, Tiger, Wash.; an uncle, Bell(sic) Copenhaver, of Excello, and a host of relatives and friends are left to mourn their loss. His father passed away in July. His funeral was held at the Christian church in Clarence Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock conducted by Rev. L.C.Maggart. Interment in the Maplewood cemetery.
