Description	:	Uncle Ed & Aunt Ethel (as I always called them) spent their summers up at my Grandmother Marie Duffner Cady's cottage on Lake Ontario. Their trips to the cottage had started back in the 1930's, and continued as long as I can remember. We'd go fishing just about every day and Uncle Ed would sometimes eat fish 3 times a day, often with ketchup which is something I remember well. Their trips to the cottage had started back in the 1930's, and continued as long as I can remember. We'd go fishing just about every day and Uncle Ed would sometimes eat fish 3 times a day, often with ketchup which is something I remember well. Ed would also pack many of the fish we caught in salt and put them in the freezer to take back to Maryland for the winter. When they arrived each summer, they also would bring fresh crabs from down in Maryland as well and my grandmother would make crabcakes. Ethel did beautiful crochet work, was an excellent cook and loved working crossword puzzles. I always knew that if I wanted something sweet to eat after dinner, I just had to go out in the woods by the cottage and gather a quart of Red or black razberries and she would whip up a wonderful pie. She was always proud of the fact that she was descended from Mary - Queen of Scots though we never went into the details unfortunately. They had a small dog named Peanut who would always be with them. He was pretty much a mutt, though they like to say he was a mix of Chihuahua and Dalmatian (due to the size which was like a chihuahua and the spots on his belly). He had been abused by a previous owner and had a growth in his throat from when he was choked, which always made him snore (as did both Ed and Ethel also). Peanut was trained to sneeze on command and would do anything for a Hershey's kiss. He was also fiercely protective of Ed and Ethel. If anyone would pretend to raise a hand at one of them (or at me), he would bark and try to stop them. When Peanut died, they got Peanut II, who was also small, but more brownish where the Peanut was mainly white. Ed and Ethel had a large garden on their home in Cresaptown and grew wonderful strawberries. Both Ed and Ethel smoked for as long as I knew them. Ed usually smoked Kent cigarettes and Ethel Kool's, but Ed also sometimes rolled his own.
