Mr Owen was at one time engineer on the Seaboard Railroad and had the distinction of brining the first train over road when it was opened 30 odd years ago. Some time ago, the Seaboard officials presented Mr Owen with a handsome medal as a token of his years of continuous service. For several years past, Mr Owen has been head of the Angus Brick Company, located at Godsey. Mr Owen was married in 1898 to Miss Lucy Morrow, and she with the following children survive him: Mrs Truman Reams, Greenville; Miss Debbie Owen, Winston-Salem; James, Lewis, Charles and Frances Owen of Abbeville. Mrs C M Thornton of Atlanta; Mrs W C Wombie of Winston Salem are sisters. Mr James D Owen of Spencer, NC is a brother. ~~~The Index-Journal (Greenwood, SC) Friday, 30 Nov 1928 Friends of W E Owen will regret very much to know that he continues critically ill of pneumonia at his home in Abbeville. He has been in declining health for some time and was stricken with pneumonia several days ago. Mr Owen is the senior member of the firm of Owen & Fezter, brick manufacturers in Godsey.
