Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, June 18, 2015 at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Norwood. Rev. Mark Mabry will officiate and burial will follow in Porter Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends, Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 at Edwards Funeral Home. Mr. Parker was born March 13, 1932 in Stanly County to the late William Thomas and Inez Huneycutt Parker. He was a past employee of Efird Mills and was a retired farmer.... He was a member of Canton Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson in law, Will Hudson; brothers Marvin, Cletus, Coburn, Sanford, Craven and Hoyle Parker; sisters, Estelle Lambert, Dorothy Hatley and Janelle Burris. He is survived by his wife, Colleen Swaringen Parker of the home; daughter, Becky Parker and husband, Randy of Oakboro; grandchildren, Leslie Melmige and husband, Kipper of Albemarle and Meredith Hudson of Oakboro; great- grandchild, Kaden Melmige; step children, Joyce Morrison, Rick Morrison and Hope Sikes all of Oakboro and Ray Morrison of Plaquemine, LA; step grandchildren, Rachel, Erin and Daniel Sikes, Lindy Siler, Michelle Bury, Michael and Billy Morrison and seven step great-grandchildren.
