Description	:	William Eldon Maas, 55, of Des Moines, died Friday, September 21, 2007, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Visitation will be held at Larson-Weishaar Funeral Home, in Manson, Iowa on Monday, September 24, from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Manson on Tuesday, September 25, at 1 p.m. with Rev. Stephen Sherer officiating. Bill was born April 18, 1952, in Fort Dodge and was the son of Eldon and Viola Maas of Manson. He attended schools in Manson and graduated from Manson High School in 1970. He attended college at Iowa Central Community College, the University of Northern Iowa from which he graduated with a BA in 1974, and continued with postgraduate courses at Iowa State and Drake University. His love for computer programming led him to pursue careers at Principal Financial Group and Allied Insurance in Des Moines where he was employed at the time of his passing. Bill enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, landscaping and tending his garden, playing cards, and playing on pool teams. He was also known at "Willie" by many of his close friends. Preceded in death by his father, Eldon, and grandparents, William and Anna Maas, and John and Caroline Maassen. Bill is survived by his mother, Viola Maas of Manson; sister, Kathleen (Denny) Kirsch, of Pocahontas, Iowa; sister, Sharon Maas, of Manson; brother Mark Maas, of Carroll; three nieces, Karrie (Kevin) Driscoll, Kasey (Troy) Donnelly, and Kellie Kirsch and great niece, Olivia Donnelly. Bill's family wishes to express their appreciation and gratitude for the kindness and caring extended by his many friends and coworkers.
