Read More	he Muscatine Journal Friday, 6 March 1914, Page 9 William Eldred Estle, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Estle, of Letts, passed away Friday, February 20, 1914, at the North Chicago hospital following an operation at that institution. Mr. Estle had been a sufferer from spinal trouble for the past three years, and underwent an operation in Iowa City several years ago, which was unsuccessful. Later he was taken to Chicago, where the best of skill was employed, with the hope that he might be permanently benefitted, but medical skill was again baffled, and he passed to his rest at the time above stated. At the time of his death he was 25 years, and three months of age. He is survived by his parents, three brothers, Leo, Lawrence and Mark, and one sister, Miss Clare. Mrs. Estle, who had been at the bedside of her son for a number of weeks to cheer him by her presence, accompanied the remains home. Mr. Estle, the father, had Just returned from Chicago the day previous having been assured by the attending physician that the boy might live some time, but an unexpected hemorrhage terminated the son's life a short time before the father reached home. On the day of the funeral, Sunday at 2 p. m., February 22, 1914, a short service was held at the home consisting of appropriate songs sung by the neighbors, and the body was then taken for interment to the family burying ground at the old Brick church near Cranston. Beautiful, floral offerings reposed on the casket and the funeral was a large one, deceased having had many warm friends in this community, many of these having frequently remembered the afflicted young man by sending flowers, letters and post card showers, and these were always greatly appreciated and were bright spots in the young man's clouded life. The pall bearers were the three brothers, Leo, Lawrence and Mark, and three cousins, Jamie O'Tople, Kenneth McColm and Paul Estle. The family have the sympathy of the community in their sad bereavement.
