Chico Enterprise-Record, Tuesday, November 3, 1953: "William E. Hayenga Dies Last Night; Services Thursday. William Emil Hayenga, who resided here since 1914, died at his Magnolia Avenue home last night following a long illness.
"Mrs. Hayenga was born in Iowa June 11, 1895, one of several children born to Mr, and Mrs. Andrew Hayenga. After Mr. Hayenga moved to Chico, he bought an orchard on West Sacramento Avenue and farmed until five years ago when ill-health forced his retirement.
"He belonged to Chico Aerie No. 218, F.O.E., the Modern Woodmen of Chico and Silver Oak Circle No. 203, Neighbors of Woodcraft.
"Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Elnora L. Hayenga, and the following brothers and sisters: Jack Hayenga, Mrs. Erna [sic] Wagner, Mrs. Alta Staples and Mrs. Lillian Williamson, all of Chico; Bennie Hayenga of Marysville; Charlie Hayenga of Galt; Clarence Hayenga of Oakland; Mrs. Clara Stafford of Paradise; Mrs. Emma Hamm, of Red Bluff; Mrs. Esther Reed of San Francisco; and Mrs. Irena Wilson of Stockton.
"Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in Brusie Funeral Home. Interment will be in Chico Cemetery." |
