He was born Dec. 25, 1899, in Ottumwa, to Joseph William and Della Enola Dunn Mincks. He married Vira May Story on Nov. 28, 1923, in Ottumwa. She died Dec. 5, 1955. An Appanoose and Davis County resident all of his life, he farmed and retired from Rock Island Railroad. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way. He was born Dec. 25, 1899, in Ottumwa, to Joseph William and Della Enola Dunn Mincks. He married Vira May Story on Nov. 28, 1923, in Ottumwa. She died Dec. 5, 1955. He is survived by two daughters, Mary Evelyn Nicoli of Roseville, Ill., and Carol Ann Long of Drakesville; six sons, Bill of Libertyville, Ill., Jim of Iowa City, Jack and Larry of Bloomfield, Gene of Cedar Rapids and Donald of Knoxville; 26 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren and two sisters, Dorothy Myers of Centerville and Mildred Thwaits of Kingman, Ariz. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter(Wilma May 1924); and a son, Richard, in 1976; and his parents. Funeral services were held Thursday, Oct. 5, 1989, at the Wagler Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Lanferman officiating. Burial was in the Drakesville Cemetery
