Also surviving are two sons, Charles D. and Wilbert, both of Illinois; and three daughters, Rosanna, Venice and Bernice, all in California; one stepson, Bobby Joe Ogden of Drakesville; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Betty Francis of Ottumwa; and several grandchildren including Mrs. Jean Ann Spears of Davenport, who was reared in the family home. The body is at Johnson Funeral Chapel. “Gobble service,” From “Ottumwa Courier,” October 21, 1969: The service for Ernest Gobble, 82, of Bloomfield Route 9 near Floris, who died at his home Monday, will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Chapel conducted by the Rev. Robert Allen, pastor of Bloomfield Christian Church. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Don Clark, Clayton Hopwood, Ray Howk, Fred DeMoss, Ivan Hill and Herman Cassill. The casket will be closed at the beginning of the service.
