Military graveside rites by the Jake Uhrig Post No. 3541, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Sterling, and burial will follow at Riverside cemetery. Mr. Ogley, 69, died Friday in a Sterling hospital. He was born Nov. 20, 1914, in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Reuben and Anna Roys Ogley Sr., received his early education at the Pleasant Hill and Akron Schools and farmed in the Kelly and Burdette areas. He did mechanical repairs on heavy road and farm equipment until entering the U.S. Army in 1942. He served in the European Theater of Operations during World War II, ear ning the Combat Infantry Badge and received the Purple Heart Medal for wounds suffered while fighting in France in July 1944. Following his discharge from the U.S. Army in 1945, Mr. Ogley returned to Sterling and became a heavy equipment operator for the Logan County Road and Bridge Department until retiring. He married Margaret A. Tatum Oct. 1, 1965, in Akron.Mr. Ogley was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church,Jake Uhrig Post No. 3541, Veterans of Foreign Wars Sterling, American Legion Post No. 20 and Royal Neighbors Camp No. 2924. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Margaret Ada Ogley of Sterling; 3 daughters, Mrs. Karen Bivens of Kimball, Neb., Mrs. Blanche McKinney of Aurora and Mrs. Alberta Souders of Sterling; a son, William "Spike" Ogley of Sterling; 2 sisters, Mrs. Imogene Bivens and Mrs. Gloria Phillips, both of Sterling; 4 brothers, Ben Ogley of San Diego, Calif., Tom Ogley of Tucson, Ariz., Richard Ogley of Fort Morgan and Reuben Ogley of Sterling; 7 grand children and 6 great-grandchildren. Chaney-Walters Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
