Peterbaugh, in York, Nebraska, where Will is engaged in farming. Will is declared to have been born around 1853 in West Virginia with his father having been born in Virginia and his mother having been born in France. Wife, Frances M. was age 19 at the time of this census, so born around 1861 with birth location declared as Wisconsin. Daughter, Lizie O. B. was 2 years of age, so born around 1878 in Nebraska. The Nebraska state census of 1885 appears to indicate that the couple may have separated or divorced by this time. William appears under the name W. F. Peterbaugh in the home of John Knoell in Fremont, Dodge, Nebraska. He is a boarder in Mr. Knoell's home along with several other persons, stated occupation is argiculture, no marital status declared. During this same census, Frances appears as Frances M. Peterbaugh with no martial status declared, in Keya Paha, Keya Paha, Nebraska. She is listed as the head of house and is residing with her children, Elizabeth B, age 7 (who is presumably the Lizie O. B. mentioned in the 1880 US census) and son, George, age 4. Ellen Jenkins, age 43, is listed as Frances' mother, and is also residing with her daughter and grandchildren. Information exists which indicates that Frances Mary Jenkinson Peterbaugh and Levi Marble Hart were married on 17 July 1885 in Springview,Keya Paha,Nebraska. They had at least two children; Birdie Permelia (b 20 Apr 1886 Mills,Keya Paha,Nebraska ~ d 11 Mar 1941 Yuba City,Sutter,California ~ Sutter City Cemetery,California) and Anna (b 1896). There is a Mary Complon (Jan 1861 in Minnesota) residing in Stuart Township Stuart village, Holt, Nebraska in 1900 who appears to match Frances Mary Hart and family. Mary Complon was married to Herman Complon (b Jan 1850 in Ohio, parents b NY, per 1900 census). Residing with them are Birdie Hart (Mar 1886 in Nebraska, Father Wisconsin, mother Minnesota) and Anna Hart (Aug 1896 in Nebraska), who are listed as step-daughters to Herman. So, there is some variation with certain details, but it does seem that Mary, Birdie, and Anna were the previous wife and the children of Levi Hart. It may be important to note that, in 1900, Mary was the mother of 7 children with 4 still living in 1900, which may account for the children with Will Peterbaugh; Elizabeth and George. Additional children and grandchildren listed in the home appear to be those of Herman Complon through a previous marriage, and the stated length of marriage as 27 years is most certainly in error, given Mary's age of 39 at the time of the census. Also, as there seems to be no other listings for Complon in the records, I am beginning to believe this surname spelling is in error. As a side note, reference Birdie; Birdie Permelia Hart married 1) Earl Finley McGrew, 2) Ernest Grant Curtis, and 3) Alton William Cooper. In 1920, William is residing in Fremont, Nebraska. This census declared his place of birth to be West Virginia, and that his father and mother were born in Germany and France respectively. Residing with him is his wife, Jennie H (age 64 / Michigan) and their son, Roy E (age 28, Nebraska). This same living arrangement continues in 1930. Differences in this census versus the 1920 census are that "Jenny" is declared as born in New Jersey.
