He was loved very much by his family and will be missed. He would have been 95 on July 29, 2011. William Floyd Manning was born on July 29, 1916 in rural Lancaster, Missouri to William Edward Manning and Clara(Heinlein)Manning. He was a life-long resident of Lancaster, Missouri and was a graduate of Lancaster High School. Floyd married Daisy Lou Nicholson from Downing. Missouri seventy-two years ago on April 27, 1939. He served in the Air Force during WWII. After returning from the service, he and Daisy worked for Fred Sizemore's grocery store. They purchased and managed the grocery store for over 38 years. Floyd and Daisy missed the daily interactions with people, so they opened and managed a "Second Hand Store" for over 12 years. Floyd was known to be generous and kind-hearted. He allowed farmers to buy groceries on credit until their crops were harvested. He personally delivered groceries to people whenever needed. He had a lot of friends because he was a good friend to many. What mattered the most to Floyd was his family and friends. He enjoyed family reunions, visiting, calling/talking with people on his cell phone, and teasing others. Floyd faced the world full of energy and with a possitive outlook on life and people. In addition to his wife, Daisy, Floyd is survived by their two daughters, Linda Manning of Bettenforf, Iowa and Carol Manning and her husband Fred Mummert of Centennial, Colorado, and nieces Marguerite Moore, Rita Crane, Geraldine Rowland, Shirley Ann Manning, Norma Lee Grimsley, Sharon McClurg, Judy Mulvaney, and Donna Jackson. A Celebration of Life Ceremony for 94-year-old Floyd Manning of Kirksville, Missouri formerly of Lancaster, Missouri will be held at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri on Friday, July 15, 2011 at 11 am with burial at the Arni Memorial Cemetery in Lancaster, Missouri. Visitation is scheduled for one hour prior to the ceremony. Memorials have been established for the American Legion Post #784 or to the American Heart Association. Officiating the services will be Sonny Smyser, pastor of the Schuyler County Church of Faith of Lancaster, Missouri. Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home of Lancaster, Missouri.
