Description	:	One of the oldest of the native sons of Beattie community, Wm FitzGerald passed away at the Axtell Hospital, Monday, June 19, 1939, at 1:15 am He was 67 years four months and 10 days of age. His death was due caused by an infection which followed a burn. He was ill at the time of the accident, and in his weakened physical condition was unable to survive the infection. William FitzGerald was born, February 8, 1872 at the family home in Beattie. He was a son of the late James and MAry FitzGerald. He received his education in the Beattie Schools and the St MArys College, St Marys, Kansas. The death of Wm FitzGerald was a happy one for he was fortified with the last sacraments of the Church, and his sisters and brothers were with him. For many years Mr FitzGerald and his brother John conducted a partnership farm Business. He made his home with his two sister, Ellen and Kate. He was a respected citizen and took an active interest in community affairs. He was a member of St Malachy's Church from his boyhood. Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 21st at ten o'clock at St Malachy's Church. The funeral mass was sung by Rev Fr Hart of Summerfield. Interment was in St Malachy's (St Patricks) Cemetery. The pall bearers were John Dougherty, MR O'Neil, J T McMahon, P C Reilly, Ed Bachoritch and L A Meier. He is survived by two sisters, Ellen and Kate, and one brother, John, all of Beattie. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Mrs Mary Ann Finnigin, Johanna and Rose FitzGerald; and one brother, Patrick.
