Description	:	FRANK DAVIS DEAD Frank Davis, living north of town, died Monday morning after a lingering illness. He was 49 years of age and leaves a wife, one daughter and one son. He had lived in the community north of town for several years and was known as an exemplary citizen. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. The body was laid to rest in Prairie Mound cemetery. ----- This article was in the Thursday, September 9, 1920 issue of The Solomon Tribune, Solomon, KS. ___________ OBITUARY--FRANK DAVIS William Francis Davis was born in Mason Co., Ill. Aug. 11, 1871. He came with his parents to Ottawa Co., Kansas in 1873 where he lived until 1888 when they moved to Dickinson Co. where he has spent the remainder of his life. He was married to Minnie Dilling Nov. 3, 1897. To this union were born two children. When just a boy, Frank was converted and united with the Methodist Episcopal church and after his marrieage joined the United Brethren church with his wife. He was a consistent member and a regular attendant of his church and an ardent advocate of temperance and of all reforms for the betterment of humanity. He was confined to his home eight months. He was a patient sufferer and always had a smile and a pleasant word for every one who visited him. He died Sept. 6, 1920 at the age of 49 years and 25 days. He leaves besides his wife, a daughter, Esther, and a son, Merle, also his mother and three brothers and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his death. The funeral services were held at the Willowdale Methodist church, after a prayer service at the home, on Wednesday, Sept. 8 at 2:30 p. m. Rev. DuVze of the United Brethren church Officiated. Rev. B. F. Dice, a former pastor and an old friend sang an appropriate and touching solo. The beautiful floral offerings and the large number of friends present showed the esteem in which he was held. The body was laid to rest in Prairie Mound cemetery. "I can not say, and I will not say That he is dead, he is just away. With a cheery smile and a wave of his hand, He has wandered into an unknown land, And left us dreaming how very fair It needs must be, since he is there. And you, oh, you, who the mildest yearn For the old-time step and the glad return, Think of his faring on, as dear In the love of There as the love of Here.
