Description	:	William Francis Griffin, Jr., 85, of Topeka, passed away February 3, 2012. He was born in Burlingame, Kansas, October 19,1926 to William Francis Griffin and Ruby Irene Coffman. He served in the U.S. Navy Seabees and the U.S. Army, retired on disability. He married Edna Lea Crouch September 27, 1947. William was a member of Corinthian Lodge No. 79, A.F. & A.M. Burlingame, Kansas and a life member of the DAV. He served as Deputy Sheriff for Shawnee County Kansas, and also served as a Police Officer for Ottawa, Burlingame, Scranton and Pomona Lake in Kansas. William is survived by his wife, Edna of 64 years, and children, Connie (Mark) Nordgren, Sandy, UT, Nancy Watts, Overland Park, KS, William F. Griffin, III, Excelsior Springs, MO, Cheron (Steve) Russell, Grain Valley, MO, Karen Yates, Blue Springs, MO, Paul Michael Griffin, Topeka, KS, Jack (Lea) Griffin, Hoyt, KS, Aaron (Joyce) Hale, Mayetta, KS, 28 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, David Edwin Griffin and his grandson, Ryan David Griffin. William was one of 22 siblings, some of which have preceded him in death. Military graveside services will be conducted by an U.S. Army Burial Detail at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at the Burlingame City Cemetery, Burlingame, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the Disabled American Veterans, and sent in care of Carey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 196, Burlingame, KS 66413. We are grateful to all of those who helped care for Dad until the end, and extend special thanks to the staff at Rossville Healthcare and Heartland Hospice Services.
