He moved to Gustine, CA as a child and later graduated from Gustine High School. He studied Agribusiness at Modesto Junior College and later was an "Aggie" at the University of California Duns until he left college to return to Gustine where he was a postal employee for ten years. Read More	Obituary Published in Inside Bay Area on March 5, 2003 WILLIAM FRANK CHAPPELL 88 passed away February 28, 2003. "Bill" as he was known, was born in 1914 in Volta, CA. He moved to Gustine, CA as a child and later graduated from Gustine High School. He studied Agribusiness at Modesto Junior College and later was an "Aggie" at the University of California Duns until he left college to return to Gustine where he was a postal employee for ten years. He and Cleo O'Grady married in 1938 and purchased the Gustine City Dairy, which they operated together. Later work for Poultry Producers brought the family to Livermore. Bill worked at Sandia National Laboratories in security, later transferring to Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory where he worked in Plant Engineering until his retirement in 1980. He was a 50 Member of The Eagles and a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. He was recognized as one of Gustine's Pioneer Families. In his younger years Bill was an avid duck hunter and remained and "Eagle Eye Shot". Well into his eighties, much to his delight, his card playing powers was legendary and he played to win. Bill was well liked and enjoyed by his friends. He loved his family dearly and was the epitome of a family man. He is survived by his wife Cleo of 65 years; daughter Patricia Dencer and son-in-law Ken of Merill, Oregon, daughter Marilyn Hughes and son-in-law John of Livermore, his grandchildren Michelle Scully of Lakeport, CA., Kelli Ness of Ripon, CA, Kevin Hughes of Lathrop, CA. and great-grandchildren Ryan Cary of Pleasanton, Carissa Cary of Ripon, CA, Max and Jacob Scully of Lakeport, CA., Kayla, Kelsie, Kyle and Brandon Hughes of Lathrop, CA. He will be dearly missed. Mass of the Ressurection will be held March 6 at 10 AM, St. Michael's Catholic Church, 458 Maple Street, Livermore, CA. Visitation will be 1-9 PM, with a Rosary at 7 PM on March 5 at Callaghan Mortuary 3833 East Ave. Livermore, CA. Rosary will be at 7:00 PM March 5th also at Callaghan's. Burial will be private.
