The 1860 census, enumerated 14 Jul shows the family of 10 [parents and 8 children] living in Prairie township, Schuyler Co., Missouri. U.S. Pension records show that William served as a Corporal in Iowa Infantry, Co. E, 30th Regt. There is also a record showing he served in the 3 Illinois Cavalary. Working to clear this up. On 20 Feb 1866 in Des Moines County, Iowa, William married Amanda E. Carter [b 14 Feb 1847, d 12 Feb 1895], d/o Bernard Carter and Ailsy/Elsie Eads. They had two children: William Samuel (married Carrie Hannah Featherby) and Clara Ellen (married Millard Fillmore Green); the 1870 census shows them living in Washington township, Des Moines Co., Iowa. An 1870 non-population census schedule shows that William had 20 acres of improved land that was valued at $900.50. His livestock consisted of 5 horses, 3 milk cows, 3 cattle and 2 pigs valued at $580. He had 60 bushels of wheat. 150 bushels of indian corn and 60 bushels of oats. After Amanda died in 1895, William married Eliza (Cook) Halstead, a widow, on 2 Feb 1899. She died in 1916. In 1897, W.F. Bozarth is shown as owning 40 acres of land in Des Moines County, in the NE area of sector 10 Mentioned in the attached obituary, pallbearers Harry Green and Leland Bozarth were his grandsons; Grant and J.C.
